Sinhalese villagers carry the coffins of slain fellow villagers during a funeral in Vavuniya, Saturday, April 14, 2007. Tamil Tiger Terrorists stormed a village in northern Sri Lanka Thursday (12 April 2007) and fatally shot and massacred seven ethnic Sinhalese residents who were preparing to celebrate new year festival.

LTTE's latest ethnic cleansing raid kills seven - Vavuniya [2nd Lead] LTTE terrorists in their ethnic cleansing raids killed six women and one man and injuring few others, at Paleuruwa in General area Avaranthulawa - Vavuniya this evening (Thursday the 12th of April 2007). According to the defence sources an armed group of terrorists stormed the village around 04:30 p.m. and executed two families at two houses. Earlier, LTTE terrorists killed four civilians at Aralaganvila on 05th April 2007. The names of the dead civilians are as follows: Kaluhami (85 years - female); Seelawathi (55 years - female); Podinona (35 years) - female); Lanka Saumyasiri (13 years); Sanath Sanjeewa (17 years - Male); S Siriyalatha (32 years - Female); Leelawathi (45 years - Female). LTTE is a ruthless terror group who fights for a mono-ethnic separate homeland for the Tamil living in Sri Lanka since 1983. It has been the outfit's strategy since its inception to flush out Singhalese and Muslim people from North and East by bloody ethnic cleansing raids. Thousands of civilians, mostly women and children were perished in the most ruthless massacres during its 20 years of terror campaign (Full report in Sri Lanka Defence Ministry).

LTTE 'victimizing civilians'; Five civilians including a three year old killed in LTTE gun attack- Batticaloa - The latest LTTE crime was reported in the eve of the Tamil-Sinhala new year celebrations, in the outskirts of the Eravur Police division, in which alleged LTTE gunmen shot dead four ethnic Tamil civilians including a three(03) year old toddler and a 15 year old school girl, yesterday(13) at 08.15p.m. The victims of the terrorist attack were believed to be family members at Kanapatthipillainagar, Chenkalady in the Batticaloa district according to Eravur Police sources. Instantly three were killed and two injured were rushed to the General Hospital at Batticaloa for treatment assisted by the civilians in the area. Later a person identified as Vallipuram Rathnasingham (60) succumbed to his injuries while undergoing intensive treatment. According to the Batticaloa Hospital sources the condition of the other injured person was also believed critical. The dead were identified as Sinnamutthukumar Sudarshan(03), Sendavan Selvi (15)-female. The Eravur Police officials said that the remaining body of a victim was identified as Natarasa Dannipplas (27)and later informed that another male body was recovered lying in distance of the crime scene. The latest LTTE attack claiming five civilian lives rise the death toll since 01st April, to 49individuals consisting mainly ethnic Tamils, Muslims and Sinhalese civilians (Full report in SinhelaNet).

LTTE kills seven including women and boy in Vavuniya - Seven civilians including a boy and six women were killed by the LTTE at Awaranthalawa, 13 kilometers off Vavuniya yesterday. Several other residents in the village were also injured when the Tigers randomly shot at a crowd in the village, the Media Centre for National Security said. Police believe that the LTTE committed this crime to provoke the Sinhala residents on the eve of the Sinhala and Tamil New year festival. The Settikulam police are conducting further investigations. Meanwhile in a major military and humanitarian victory the Army gained full control of the 41 km A-5 Badulla - Maha Oya - Chenkaladdy road on April 11 confining the LTTE to around 140 square kilometers in the Thoppigala jungles. Government Forces gained control of the A-5 after 14 years. Security Forces estimate the number of LTTE trapped inside Thoppigala jungles to be around 300 to 350 (Full report in Sunday Observer).
